Emulex 4Gb/s HBAs Certified for Symantec Storage Foundation 5.0
Industry-Leading Fibre Channel HBAs Deliver High-Performance, Enterprise-Class Functionality for New Symantec Storage Products
COSTA MESA, Calif., August 17, 2006 - Emulex® Corporation (NYSE:ELX), one of the most trusted names in storage networking connectivity, today announced that its industry-leading 4Gb/s PCI-X and PCI Express connectivity solutions have completed hardware qualification testing in the Symantec Technology Enabled Program for Symantec's Veritas Storage Foundation 5.0.
Working closely with the Symantec Technology Enabled Program ensures that customers deploying the latest Symantec suite of storage software solutions can leverage fully supported Emulex host bus adapters (HBAs) for robust SAN connectivity.
Storage Foundation 5.0 provides data center-wide visibility into the entire storage environment across all major application, server, operating system and storage platforms. Storage Foundation 5.0 provides a standard set of integrated tools to manage explosive data growth, optimize storage hardware investments, provide comprehensive data protection and rapidly adapt to changing business requirements.
Enterprises increasingly deploy applications that require Symantec's software solutions to help power storage management, backup and recovery, while also accommodating high-availability applications that demand large amounts of storage. When combined with the Storage Foundation, NetBackup, Backup Exec and CommandCentral storage products, Emulex HBAs provide flexible, scalable connectivity to consolidated storage. Emulex products that satisfied comprehensive testing to earn hardware qualification with Symantec's suite of storage management solutions include the 4Gb/s single-channel LP1150, LP11000, LPe1150 and LPe11000 HBAs, along with dual-channel LP11002 and LPe11002 HBAs. Emulex 4Gb/s HBAs are designed for both native PCI Express and PCI-X 2.0 architectures.
"Qualifying Emulex 4Gb/s HBAs for use with Storage Foundation 5.0 provides customers with trusted, robust connectivity solutions for their networked storage environments - enabling advanced storage management and high availability," said Mike Smith, executive vice president of worldwide marketing at Emulex Corporation. "This milestone builds on our relationship with Symantec, and ensures delivery of best-in-class storage solutions to both small- and medium-sized customers, along with the most data-intensive enterprise customers."
"It is important for our customers to have a broad choice of high-performance SAN solutions in the market that not only meet their needs today, but also provide an easy migration path for scaling beyond current requirements," said Jeff Reed, director of product management, Data Center Management Group, Symantec. "The family of Emulex 4Gb/s HBAs add significant value to our customers looking to benefit from high-performance, reliable SAN connectivity."
